Does slackware work with Gigabyte GA-7VAXP motherboard ?

Hello,

I've been trying to install Slackware 9.0 on a system with an Abit KR7A-RAID motherboard and just couldn't get it to install. So, after much head scratching, web surfing, posting to this group and generally "trying things out" I wimped out and installed Red Hat 9.0.

This worked fine for a few weeks but the motherboard has started giving me problems (again) as it keeps losing the interrupts for the hard drives and I'm now so fed up with it that I'm going to replace it.

So... I've been looking at suitable replacement boards and my current favourite is the Gigabyte GA-7VAXP

However, to save me giving myself even more headaches, I'd just like to know if anyone has installed Slackware 9.0 on a system featuring this board ? and, if so, have you been able to use hard drives attached to EIDE3 & EIDE4 without problems ?

I'm not bothered about using the RAID features of the board but I would like to use two hard drives attached to EIDE3 & EIDE4

Failing this if anyone could recommend a decent RAID motherboard that Slackware is happy with I'd like to hear about it.

Thanks in advance.

Yes it does. I couldn't get slack to work on an ABIT AT7 so I asked here just for someone to list a working mobo in slack, and the first response was Gigabyte GA-7VAXP, which is what I'm using now. =)

i am currently using a Gigabyte Motherboard which is built for celeron only, i can't tell it's model because my memory is fuzzy... though i'm running 433mhz here...

Thanks for the replies - this is just what I was hoping I'd hear !

So I think the best way forward is to invest in a new Mobo and get "Slacking".

Cheers !
