I've always run -current, right now with a 1.5mb 3.1.4-smp kernel and initrd on a K7 desktop.
Never have issues with any variation of Slackware, and if I do I just come here and somebody's usually already answered it
The slow release cycle and long periods between updates are awesome for me on my 13.37 install and are a stark contrast to all the other distro's update-every-day schema. I like the fact I don't always have to check for updates and can concentrate on other things.
It's the best Linux system ever!

One thing that I felt that I should add is that if you want kde 4.7.4 from Eric's repo you need current as a recent update made them incompatible

I'm running -current with a custom kernel and a few upgraded packages like fluxbox 1.3.2 using the SlackBuild-script from -current.

Lightbulb upgrade or use?

I only recently moved all my hardware to 13.37:
1. Home multi boot machine (has 4 systems on it: 2 Slack OSes and 2 Win OSes)
2. Workshop machine (1TB drive pure slack :P)
3. Gecko Edubook (from my sig down below) is 13.37 now (on 2.6.38.4 recompiled for APM and i586)
And I was going from 13.1 yet still have 12.2 on the home rig
In the PC-repairshop I worked, we had a 11.0 running a custom kernel until recently (~5yrs of service).
I ran current for a while, as BrainL wrote- it's too much bells and whistles for sorry me

I typically heavily customize my Slackware installs, and put loads of games, and this requires patience for ports to apear on SBo and packages to come to slacky.eu, so I usually
Code:
 upgrade ()
{
 T=(release + 3 months)
}
