DistroWatch, -current & Xfce.

For sometime now there hasn't been an entry for what version of Xfce is being used by Slackware-current. I noticed this about the time the format at DistroWatch changed and the listing for Xfce changed to, xfdesktop.
Isn't Xfce 4.6.2 the version used in Slackware-current?

Very Nicely done! However, in and of itself, it does not answer the question.
Anyone running Xfce 4.6.2 can pop up that box. Please see the attached
image.

Okay. Just took this screenshot on my slackware-current netbook running xfce 4.6.2. :-)

Okay then just do this then...

Code:

I hope that helps

Kindest regards,

Geez, Don't see the need for your sarcasm.

DistroWatch changed the label for the listing of Xfce on their spreadsheet many months ago. The whole point of this thread was to obliquely (as in politely or diplomatically) point that out in the hope whomever is responsible for feeding the Slackware information to DistroWatch would take note and make the necessary changes.
Hasn't worked... so far.

-current is on constant development.. so the 'current' version might change.
I think one should check the current changelog to find out where xfce is at the moment/any moment. The very minute that distrowatch updates the version of xfce in the linked table, things could be updated,. causing a new thread to rise on LQ that DistroWatch is so awfully wrong...

Don't you all think that people that don't know slackware should start with a stable release first, and find out how -current works after that? Ones hooked to slackware, why bother to check Distrowatch? There's another Distro-watch-to-watch

I'm with sjampoo on this one. 'current' is just a publicly visible work-in-progress. It's a moving target and IMO distrowatch shouldn't be listing it at all!

Besides, rather than waste the time of the folks on this forum with this nonsense, why didn't you use the "contact, corrections and suggestions" mailto link on the bottom of that webpage and let them know yourself.

I don't believe DistroWatch goes searching for the information, but rather it is provided to them; therefore, someone on the Slackware side would have to setup the information in the proper format. Yes? No?
Sorry for being so subtle.

Hello,
Sorry to bother you with this, as I thought it would be up to the Slackware people
to provide the information in the proper format, but I guess not.

On the Slackware page in the row labeled, xfdesktop (4.8.3)
the version of Xfce being used in Slackware-current is, 4.6.2
Just FYi.
Thank you for your time.

Rolling release distros like Arch are also moving targets and change far more frequently than current. Should DistroWatch not list them?

Seriously? You are taking pot shots at the Slackware development Team because they are not keeping a misinformed website up to date?!
I am very happy that the Slackware Team is focused on *developing* Slackware.
