Disable EFI partition table.

I'd like to get my ipod running on slackware. From reading I see that I need to disable the EFI partition table before I can mount the iPod. How would I go about doing this?

And do I need to format the ipod on a windows computer first? or can ephpod under wine do this?

google gnupod. No formatting / crazy stuff, just simple perl scripts.

What about gtkpod? Anybody have good results with that?

I have it installed, it looks nice if i could ever get the ipod to mount.
