Dir's being created in cron tabs randomly?

I have fresh install of 13.37.0

I am having an issue.. rather i guess a question of dir's being created in the

/var/spool/cron/

Like:

cron.hhgay1

or

cron.ddhie2

I had an install of 13.0 that had been left on for about 6 months and had like 6 of these random dir's in it. I thought the box had been compromised so i re-did it and now it's re-appearing.

I have been using slack since v8 and have never seen this before.. it is another program or.. something else?

I have just loaded mysql/php/lighttpd so far.. could it be one of these?

The directories are owned by root/root and there are no files inside the directory.

Any insight into this would be great!

Thanks in advance!

We discussed this a few months ago:

Strange Cron directories: /var/spool/cron/cron.GfqqGO

My personal solution was to insert the following in my system "cleanup" script that I run from the rc.shutdown script:

find /var/spool/cron -type f -maxdepth 1 -name 'cron.*.*' -mtime +1 -exec rm -f {} \; 2> /dev/null

Thanks for that. I actually did some research on it but came up with nothing. Glad to hear its not a problem.
