must be a permissions problem. I used gphoto2 as root to download the files off my camera but as a user it will not even detect it. This is a good sign that it works now i have to figure out this other problem.
Pre-built Slackware 12.0 packages for digiKam are here: http://www.slackware.com/~alien/slackbuilds/digikam/
Also get the dependencies (available at the above URL as well): exiv2, jasper, libgphoto2, libkdcraw, libkexiv2, libkipi and sqlite
i downloaded the 0.9.2 version off slackbuilds and it did not detect the camera. Im gonna try yours which is version 0.9.3 and see if this helps. I don't really think it would because it relies on libgphoto2 for drivers and the like. Kind of bummed its not working in korqueror i don't really like using a probgram to load my photos. I would rather just use my file manager. But not everything works out the way you want.
maybe if I read the contents in 90-libgphoto2.rules I would notice that my camera wasn't listed. Edited file and works like a charm. Still sad about not being able to view this in my file manager. I'll stop talking and possible drinking. Maybe just the first part....night

i have the same problem. but my camera IS listed in /etc/udev/rules.d/90-libgphoto2.rules
and i still get the same error in digikam, whenever i try to load my camera as a regular user. i checked if maybe i'm not in the plugdev group, but i am. so i'm out of ideas and i get the shivers when i have to use digikam as root :-/ any ideas?
