dhcpcd configuration
Hello !
I have recently switched to a new ISP. The old one used static IP addressing, but the new is using dynamic IP (DHCP). The computer that I use is a dualboot with Windows 2000 and slackware. I got internet working now, but I have some questions anyway! To reconfigure my settings, I was running the 'netconfig* command to change to dhcp. Do I need to make some more changes to my settings, to get it to work flawless ? Because when booting up the system, It prompts a lot of messages about the dhcpcd I'm also wondering if there could be some glitches concernig the dhcp, while rebooting from W2000 to Slack (or the other way around) happy for som information about this issue ! |
well tell us what these messages are....
|
I know this is probably something very easy , all the messages when booting, aren't those stored in a file ?
I tried to find the file but with no succes . . |
/var/log/messages
|
I could not find the messages of interest in the /var/log/messages file
Maybe the dhcpcd stuff has an own logfile ? |
Try: dmesg
|
Actually I can't see mine either, not by looking in /var/log/messages or dmesg...
I was just trying, but no dice. I don't even know how to throw you a screenshot since it's during boot up, maybe I will get my digital camera... Bynaar, as a side note, I don't think it's really any problems, I think it's rather server negotiations going on. But I really don't know jack about networking and have always just blown that off as "negotiations" so that's why I was trying to look as well. Cool |
