Dell rack server
I am thinking of replacing my tower server (single CPU one HD & Slackware) with a 2 - CPU, raid 10 hardware controller rack system (R520).
The system is compatible with Linux Enterprise Server and Red Hat Enterprise Linux. Can I assume that I should have no issues with Slackware (V14.1)? |
We run RHEL on multiple Dell racked servers including R class machines with no issue.
We don't run Slackware but I don't think you'd have a problem installing any Linux on servers built to allow Linux. (That is there are some newer servers in the world that have stuff that only allows you to run MS Windows so you couldn't run RHEL or any other Linux.) Dell just only "supports" (i.e. lets you call them about) RHEL or Suse or (at one time at least) Ubuntu. So long as you don't mind them not helping you with OS issues in Slackware I wouldn't think it would be a problem. |

I have a public server running Slackware64 14.0 on a Dell R210 rack.
