Dell Dimension power down

I usually get ATX machines to power down automatically by uncommenting the command in rc.modules to load the apm module.

This don't work on me son's Dell Dimension (with Slack 10.2), the apm module won't load.

Has anyone had any luck getting Dell's to power off automatically on shutdown?

perhaps you need the ACPI (bareacpi.i) kernel instead of the APM (bare.i) one??

did you check the BIOS??
