deleting old kernel

If you recompile a kernel and all is fine there should be no reason to keep an old one right? So, to delete can you just wipe out the directory in /usr/src and the image in /boot?

Sure, but I always usually keep two around at a given time, just in case and it doesn't hurt anything, except taking up a little bit of space.

And to tell you the truth, having a second kernel saved me once, when I got a kernel panic on the newer one.

Ok, thanks. Guess it's not a bad idea to keep one around. Didn't realize how easy it is to recompile a kernel. I'm starting to like all this linux stuff
