Delete old removed_packages before upgrade?
I don't look at /var/log/removed_packages very often, but after upgrading my laptop from 14.0 to 14.1, I noticed that I've got removed packages dating back to Slackware 13.0 in 2009. That was the last time I did a full install on this laptop. Since 13.0, I've just been upgrading from one version to the next.
I am curious what others who upgrade Slackware from one version to the next do with /var/log/removed_packages? It seems like the information from more than one release back would be of little value, and even perhaps from the release that was just upgraded from. |
You can just delete content of /var/log/removed_packages and /var/log/removed_scripts.

Thanks. I think I'll delete everything more than a year or so old and just retain recent upgrade history.
