-current + wacom intuos driver config ->wrong kernel id'd

#uname -a gives
Linux echo 3.10.17 #2 Wed Oct 23 17:46:52 CDT 2013 i686 Intel(R) Pentium(R) M processor 1400MHz GenuineIntel GNU/Linux

doing ./configure of input-wacom-0.25.0, the script id's the kernel as 3.10.17-smp and when attempting to insmod the wacom.ko, I get a invalid module error

rm -rf all traces of the 3.10.17-smp kernel from the machine and re-run the configure script and it still id's the kernel as *-smp

config.log shows
configure:3482: checking for linux-based kernel
configure:3488: result: yes
configure:3502: checking for kernel source/headers
configure:3511: result: /lib/modules/3.10.17/build
configure:3558: checking kernel version
configure:3573: result: 3.10.17-smp

meh...dat's a puzzle...

vi'd the ./configure script and found the calls for kernel id and found nothing that would "hard set" the kernel id

I'm stumped...should I try an older driver? opinions happily read
cheers

further...used input-wacom-0.21.0 as it is the version used in a recent online video and it produced the same result.

./configure shows kernel as 3.10.17-smp despite my having rm'd _all_ files of any kind that were *-smp

perhaps this isn't the correct forum for this question? ~150 reads and no suggestions?

You have to make changes to the kernel source,
since kernel-source-3.10.17_smp-noarch-3.txz from slackware IS configured as SMP.

see the README.TXT from here: http://mirrors.slackware.com/slackwa....17-nosmp-sdk/

Enjoy
