As the topic states, I'm running --current here on a box with a "built by ati" ati radeon 9600XT agp video card with dual crt monitors.
I'm using the r300 driver.
With radeon.modeset=0 I get a segfault running:
glxinfo |grep ren
Xorg does run, and /var/log/Xorg.0.log does state dri is enabled.
grep segfault /var/log/messages gives:
glxinfo: segfault at 0 ip (null) sp bfe16e6c error 4 in glxinfo[8048000+5000]
glxgears: segfault at 0 ip (null) sp bf8dfc0c error 4 in glxgears[8048000+4000]
I enable the dual monitor by a script when I log into xfce with the following commands:
xrandr --output VGA-0 --mode 1280x1024_75.00 --primary --output DVI-0 --mode 1280x1024 --rate 60 --right-of VGA-0 ; xfce4-panel -r
What I notice now since the last updates to X is that full screen flash is broken. Running flash at whichever size the webpage dictates still runs.
Prior to the X updates, I had about 700 fps on glxgears.
Using radeon.modeset=1, then glxgears and glxinfo no longer segfault.
Sadly, the fps drops to about 150 fps
However with the radeon.modeset=1 full screen flash does work, but totally unusable due to the low fps.
Of note, running without an xorg.conf file yields a completely unloadable X. I have not gone thru and broken up my old X file into numerous ##-name.conf in the conf.d directory as of yet. So I'm still using my old xorg.conf file.
I've tried Xorg --configure but that gives an unusable X as well, unless I add to the bottom of the xorg.conf file:
Option "AIGLX" "off"
Option "AutoAddDevices" "false"
So two questions, maybe more
1. is radeon.modeset=0 no longer supported for dri with the new X
2. if radeon.modeset=0 is still ok, is there someway to unbreak the glxgears and glxinfo and flash?
Thoughts & suggestions greatly appreciated.
