I'm having trouble in Slackware64 13.37 with
OpenOffice.org 3.3.0 from
SlackBuilds.org and
Oracle jre-7u7-linux-x64 with the
java.SlackBuild from current.
First off,
java.SlackBuild does not install JRE in
/usr/lib64/java/jre, it installs in
/usr/lib64/java. Well, OK, install
jdk-7u7-linux-x64 instead, which does install JRE in
/usr/lib64/java/jre. I'm digging through the SlackBuild to see if I can figure out what to do but haven't gotten there yet.
Problem is that
OpenOffice 3.3.0 says, "The folder you selected does not contain a Java runtime environment. Please select a different folder" when I try to add it in the Options pointing it a
/usr/lib64/java/jre. Uh-oh.
I have a Java application that requires a symbolic link for JRE, it's linked to
/usr/lib64/java/jre (from the JDK install) and works fine. That application does not work with
OpenJava, by the way, which is why Oracle Java.
So, problem with the
java.SlackBuild, problem with
OpenOffice not recognizing the JRE runtime.
Is there some other package that needs installing or did I miss some environment settings? The only environment setting I do have that would affect Java is this:
Code:
cat /etc/profile.d/java.sh
#!/bin/sh
# Set Java text environment
export _JAVA_OPTIONS='-Dawt.useSystemAAFontSettings=lcd_hrgb'
Tiz a puzzlement.
