-current install from hard disk partition fails

okay...I'm doing something wrong

previously had 12.2 on this machine but want to play with current

kept the partition table and formatted all except /images where the /slackware directory has /a through /xap

/dev/hda1 / -512m
/dev/hda2 /swap
/dev/hda3 /usr - 10gb
/dev/hda5 /opt - 3gb
/dev/hda6 /home -54gb
/dev/hda7 /var - 1gb
/dev/hda8 /tmp - 1.5gb

/dev/hdb1 /swap -512m
/dev/hdb2 /music -25gb
/dev/hdb3 /images -30gb

turned on swap
during setup I selected a hard disk partition as the source for the files
I spec'd /dev/hdb3 as the location
and /images/slackware as the path
yet each time I got an error about the directory not existing

Alt-F2 and did cat /etc/mtab and /dev/hdb3 was not shown as mounted
did #mount /dev/hdb3 /mnt/images
# cat /etc/mtab shows /hdb3 now mounted
ALt-F1 to the setup screen, go through the same location and paths as
above and get the same error
Alt-F2 to the second terminal and #cat /etc/mtab shows hdb3 as not
mounted!!?!

anyone with a clue they can share?

Hi,

You can take a look at 'SlackwareŽ12_Janux_NET_NoBurn_Install'. Should be easy to do the install via this great LQ post.

This link and others are available from 'Slackware-Links'. More than just SlackwareŽ links!
