cups doesn't list ltp for printer

I've just installed Slack 10, and trying to configure cups I do the 'http://localhost:631' thingy ( I'm used to mandrake) I try to add a printer but it doesnt list LTP ports for the printers connection, just a few network ones I've never heard of, the lots of serial ports then usb.

just 'lsmod' and there doesnt seem to be any modules for a parallel port, could this be the problem?

if so, which module would I use (dont know the name).

thanks

Well, that's because they're lpt, not ltp ports...

j/k ...

Yes, the module(s) are definitely required.

You'll need to modprobe parport and lp.

Cheers,
Tink
