Crazy mouse in console

Help! I am getting a crazy mouse in a console (not x). It appears to stay at the top and when I move it, it can be used in replace my "enter" key on my keyboard. Does anyone know what's wrong?

try run the script : /var/log/setup/setup.mouse, maybe it will setup the mouse right by luck

That didn't make it work. When I first boot up the computer and enter the console, the mouse works fine. But when I startx and switch back to the console, it goes crazy again.

Try disabling gpm (chmod -x /etc/rc.d/rc.gpm) but you won't have mouse on the console.

it's probably because have you specified different types in X and in the console. if you have a mouse with wheel use imps2, istead of ps/2

Both gpm and X both are setup as imps2 mouses but it's still doing the samething. I have to keep restarting gpm everytime I switch from X to a virtual console to get the mouse working properly.
