Countdown while booting the CD could be helpful

Hi

I'm installing Slackware in a PC with a USB keyboard. The system doesn't recognize it until Slackware is loaded, so I have to connect a PS/2 keyboard just to press Enter in the "Boot:" prompt. Maybe you could consider setting a countdown for those cases.

I'd like also to say THANKS for Slackware and the Slackware book (and also this forum), as they have helped me _learn_ (not only use) Linux like no other distribution did.

See you

PD: this is not my account, I've just logged in using a bugmenot account

Do you use Grub or Lilo to boot the system?
if you use grub you can set timeout = 5 in /boot/grub/grub.conf to set a countdown from 5 seconds.

Check your BIOS setting. There may be an option to set USB legacy (or similar wording) so your USB keyboard is available before an OS loads

menthe, he is talking about the installation CD, not the system boot loader.

Looking in the BIOS for USB keyboard settings sounds like the best plan.

I didn't know about that option It works fine, contrary to what I thought (it's an Intel mini-keyboard + touchpad that I couldn't get to work on WinXP).

Thanks for your time
