Content in Slack CDs

Hi,

The info given about the 4-CD set is

Bootable installation disc
Bootable live disc, the Ultimate Linux rescue and demo disc!
ZipSlack, installation onto a Windows partition
Complete source code and handy Linux archives

My question does all packages come with the first CD. GNOME, KDE and etc. When I use Mandrake or RedHat they come atleast with 3 CDs. But packages with slack come only in one CD (others are specific as mentioned above)

Before I download or buy the iso, i need to know this!

Also it would be great if Slack too come with more packageslike debian. (Slack with new packages but debian with old - of course there is a weekly release of `sid`)

thanks for your time! btw i am new to slack (previously rh, mdk)

Not all packages, like kernel source, come with the first cd/iso; however, you won't likely need more than the first anyhow since the first has KDE, GNOME, etc.

fine. suppose when i download slackware-9.0 directory through a ftp client, in what way i should split them to write into 4 cds such that they resemble the official 4cd box?
eg: http://public.ftp.planetmirror.com/p...slackware-9.0/

Just download the iso.

The only thing I can see you needing is the kernel source, which you can just download(what I did). I have no idea what's even on the other cds since I've never had to use them before.

But how do I split downloaded files into the respective 4 cds?

I think slackware.com only offer the first cd for downloading. You'll have to download the rest of the stuff seprately. You can make some of the cds yourself. You can get the live cd from www.slackware-live.org

Well, my ISP finally recovered from that W32/Lovesan.worm.

So, if anybody is still interested in seeing the contents of the 4 Slackware 9.0 CD's, then there it is.

regards...
