configuring XF86Config Modeline

Hi!

I know I probably have to dig up the xwindows documentation for this. But I don't much time to do it at the moment, maybe some of you have done this before,

Wait I am trying to do is to configure the refresh rate to be 145Hz. It is supported by the monitor. Below is the XF86Config file. The Modeline where done by KDE Control Panel.

Why don't I used it? Cause, it can only bring the refresh rate to 100Hz.

Section "Monitor"
DisplaySize 406 305 # mm
Identifier "Monitor0"
VendorName "Compaq"
HorizSync 30-121
VertRefresh 50-161
ModelName "P1210"
Option "DPMS"
# ModeLine "1024x768/145Hz" 340 1024 1056 1216 1408 768 782 788 822 -HSync -VSync
ModeLine "1280x1024/100Hz" 181.75 1280 1312 1440 1696 1024 1031 1046 1072 -HSync -VSync
# ModeLine "1024x768/145Hz" 117 1024 1056 1248 1440 768 771 781 802 -HSync -VSync
ModeLine "1024x768/100Hz" 115.5 1024 1056 1248 1440 768 771 781 802 -HSync -VSync

As you can see there is a lot of numbers there. And I managed to figured out what it meant from xvidtune.
After the "res" is the Pixel Clock (MHz), HDisplay (pixel), HSyncStart, HSyncEnd, HTotal, VDisplay(pixel), VSyncStart, VSyncEnd, and VTotal.

Now, what does *SyncStart ,*SyncEnd, *Total should be if I want to push it to 145Hz? How do I calculate it?

I know the monitor can support the Pixel Clock of 340MHz (max). Your help is truly, deeply appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Wow, that is a crazy refresh rate. All I can say is try searching for something like "modeline generators" on google, there are some applets out there that allow you to input certain parameters and it will generate a modeline.

Google for "XFree86-Video-Timings-HOWTO".
It will tell you everything you need to know.
