Configuring SSL (Apache mod_ssl) in Slack 12.2

Hey all, can someone point me to an "easy to read" or "non-geeky" guide/tutorial to configuring and using apache mod_ssl on Slack 12.2? I have just become interested in this subject and would like an easy to follow introduction on the implementation and usage.

Cheers all.

Don't really know of a slack specific tutorial but it's not all that complicated really.

First thing to do is generate some SSl certificates. A pretty good tutorial is here http://www.eclectica.ca/howto/ssl-cert-howto.php

Then just edit /etc/httpd/httpd.conf and uncomment the following two lines.
Code:
LoadModule ssl_module lib/httpd/modules/mod_ssl.so
Include /etc/httpd/extra/httpd-ssl.conf
Then edit /etc/httpd/extra/httpd-ssl.conf and set the locations of your DocumentRoot, SSLCertificateFile and SSLCertificateKeyFile etc.

That's pretty much all the Slack specific parts and the rest is likely covered in you general purpose Apache/SSL howtos.

Restart httpd and you should be able to connect to your server on port 443

Cheers for the response mRgOBLIN. I had figured out the need to uncomment the mod_ssl Module and the "include" call to the httpd-ssl.conf file in httpd.conf. However, when I went through httd-ssl.conf I found it to be a bit on the cryptic side . It contained a link to a resource on the Apache site but that too was quite a bit heavy.

What I was looking for was a reaonably clear implementation procedure and you have explained this remarkably clearly . I have no doubt that quite a bit of work will be required but at least, thanks to you assistance, I know how to proceed. Thanks for the link to the tutorial. I will definitely head over there to read through it.

Cheers once again
