Configuring fluxbox on slack 9.1

Since kde can eat shit and die, I've decided to give flux a try.

I've heard good things about it, but I've also heard it's anything but user friendly.

I was wondering how I could go about using themes/background images, and how to get icons on my desktop for a little easy access to a few things.

Edit: also, my task bar only shows the window that I have focused, so I can't just bring up a different program by clicking it on the taskbar, but instead I have to minimize everything to get to a certain window. How can I change that.

(Sorry for the elementary questions, I'm new to flux.)

Any help is appreciated.

P.s. If you guys needs to know what version of flux I'm using, you'll have to tell me how to find that out

To get all the programs opened to show on the taskbar, you will have to upgrade to 0.9.9.

Themes, just right click and goto Fluxbox-menu -> Styles and choose what one you want, freshmeat has more you can download.

Icons on the desktop, don;t believe its possible, but I don't know since I just use the menu anyways.

Default Slackware comes with 0.1.14 and on the second cd in extras or testing (I don't remeber) should be the package for 0.9.9

You can download the v9.1 package from here, the current/v10.0 package from here, or you can get the source from here.

Installing the packages:
Code:
For v9.1:
upgradepkg fluxbox-0.1.14-i386-1.tgz fluxbox-0.9.9-i486-2dra.tgz

For current/v10.0:
upgradepkg fluxbox-0.1.14-i386-1.tgz fluxbox-beta-0.9.9-i486-1.tgz
Installing from source, first uninstall the old package:
Code:
removepkg fluxbox-0.1.14-i386-1.tgz
and then follow the instructions here.
