Configuring alsa and multiple(?) sound cards
This is in regard to 13.37 of slackware.
When I run alsaconf I get several bttv and other sound cards as seen below: | |bt87x Brooktree Corporation Bt878 Audio Capture (rev 11) │ │ │ │bt87x Brooktree Corporation Bt878 Audio Capture (rev 11) │ │ │ │bt87x Brooktree Corporation Bt878 Audio Capture (rev 11) │ │ │ │bt87x Brooktree Corporation Bt878 Audio Capture (rev 11) │ │ │ │via82xx VIA Technologies, Inc. VT8233/A/8235/8237 AC97 Audio Controll│ │ │ │legacy Probe legacy ISA (non-PnP) chips I tried to run alsaconf once for each type but aplay -l always shows: **** List of PLAYBACK Hardware Devices **** card 2: V8235 [VIA 8235], device 0: VIA 8235 [VIA 8235] Subdevices: 4/4 Subdevice #0: subdevice #0 Subdevice #1: subdevice #1 Subdevice #2: subdevice #2 Subdevice #3: subdevice #3 card 2: V8235 [VIA 8235], device 1: VIA 8235 [VIA 8235] Subdevices: 1/1 Subdevice #0: subdevice #0 Are these all sound cards?? I know V8235 is. So why is it card 2 where/which is card 1? Can I edit alsaconf output to include the others as I seen done elsewhere? |

Perhaps you could start with looking at the documentation in /usr/src/linux/Documentation/video4linux/bttv/ and then google for other people's experience with your card model. Hauppage do have a page on Linux driver support. |
Great thought! Will explore ASAP.
Nope. Looked into current /var/log/messages and get: 3.783965] sn9c102: V4L2 driver for SN9C1xx PC Camera Controllers v1:1.47pre49 3.786167] usb 4-1: SN9C105 PC Camera Controller detected (vid:pid 0x0C45:0x60FC) 3.860096] usb 4-1: HV7131R image sensor detected 4.250732] usb 4-1: V4L2 device registered as video0 4.250826] usb 4-1: Optional device control through 'sysfs' interface disabled Feb 18 21:00:50 polaris kernel: [ 4.251010] usbcore: registered new interface driver sn9c102 Feb 18 21:00:50 polaris kernel: [ 4.292374] usbcore: registered new interface driver snd-usb-audio Feb 18 21:00:50 polaris kernel: [ 4.706676] [drm] nouveau 0000:01:00.0: Attempting to load BIOS image from PRAMIN All the a/v is registered but I am wondering about nouveau. I think it is used for the nvidia video card. Since all else seems set up this might be an area to explore. |
