thanks all

My apologies for not putting how i resolved this

It looks like i had the wrong information about my onboard graphics.

I tried a few different combinations using xorconfig, but i think it was my choice of graphics card which was causing the problem..

Now have it up and running... Sorry again for my ignorance :/

answer your own post, perhaps you could tell in
