computer talks to me :P HELP


Why everytime I boot or open a terminal is my comp spitting out "quotes" from famous people?? And please... please tell me how to turn this foolishness off.. thanks in advance..

btw: I am new to slackware.. had gentoo installed for a almost a year.. now thought I would try slackware.. I must say I like it better than gentoo so far

the program is called fortune.

If you don't like it as much as it seems, just remove it via pkgtool

Fortune is the program, but thats not what is listed under pkgtool. Fortune is a part of the bsd-games package so you'll want to remove bsd-games...

You can disable them without remove the package, with :
chmod -x /etc/profile.d/bsd-games*
