[SOLVED] computer reboots when screen goes to native resolution at boot

hi guys,

something weird is happening here. I am running x86_64 -current and sometimes upon boot, just when the console switches to the native resolution the screen goes blank and the computer reboots. Happened twice since I upgraded to -current last weekend. Before, in 13.37, my video card was not supported so I used the ATI proprietary driver without such issues.

That's probably the Modesetting feature kicking in and auto-tuning the display of the console and X11 for the native resolution. it's a harmless feature, but there are some people who do have problems with it.

You can disable this by blocking the preloading of the kernel's radeon module from loading during the boot process. X11 will load everything automatically anyway.

the reason the Proprietary driver doesn't cause this problem is proprietary drivers lack the modesetting feature.
