Compiz Reloaded for Slackware 14.2

Because of the link posted by another user regarding the second coming of Compiz, I took the liberty of compiling the updated source code packages for Slackware. You may download the tarball here. Untar this and install (or update: the safest route would be to use upgradepkg --install-new to avoid installing several versions of the same packages) the individual packages.

I loved Compiz, but couldn't make use of it before because of Emerald's tendency to segfault; I have used the new version for several days for over 12 hours at a time, and not once has Emerald segfaulted. I find that the problems with the original implementation to have been fixed.

If anyone finds the visual effects of Compiz appealing, then I hope these packages are of use to you.

Happy Slacking!

I've also updated the compiz pacakges to 0.8.12.x over at SBo. If you read the README.Slackware file you will see that Slackware still ships the old compiz-0.8.8. If you want the best experience and stability its a good idea to also update the compiz core package. Keep in mind that you will be replacing a stock slackware package so you'll have to blacklist compiz in the /etc/slackpkg/blacklist file.

Just FYI, with your binary packages you are missing fusion-icon and compiz-plugins-unsupported is now obslete, it has been merged into and replaced by compiz-plugins-experimental.

Good points; I forgot to include the updated compiz core package, which I also compiled. I made a new tarball and uploaded it. OP has been updated to reflect this.

fusion-icon wasn't among the updated packages, which is why it wasn't included in the tarball, and compiz-plugins-unsupported is -experimental renamed for the sake of the SlackBuild I used for the compile. Still works, though.
