compiz, gnome and hibernate

Hi,

I use DroplineGnome 2.20beta on Slack12. I have installed the compiz-0.6.0 packages from here, and everything works surprisingly well. The main problem I have is hibernating, or more precisely resuming from hibernation, while compiz is running. Suspending works fine, and suspending and hibernating work fine with metacity, but with compiz I resume to a blank screen with a mouse pointer (which I can move). Ctrl-Alt-Bksp kills X after a brief glimpse of my desktop.

I have tried to modify hibernate/common.conf (I use tuxonice kernel patch) to switch to metacity before hibernation, but it doesn't help. Does anyone have any ideas for me?

Thanks,
Brian

What's your card?

Try adding these to the driver section in Xorg.conf:
Code:
Option "VBERestore" "true"
There are some cases where it (Vesa Bios Extensions) must be enabled for the correct restoration of the initial video mode. If you are having a problem with that, try enabling this option.

I already have this option enabled. My video card is "nVidia Corporation NV17 [GeForce4 440 Go 64M] (rev a3)"

Thanks,
Brian
