Compiling squid

Hello,

I am compiling squid on Slackware 13.1 and getting error:
gcc: error trying to exec 'as': execvp: No such file or directory
I checked /usr/bin/as, and there is no such file. How can I install it?

/usr/bin/as is part of the binutils package, which is available in the slackware/d directory on you installation media (2nd CD, i believe), or any mirror.
