Compiling Kernel
i recently recompiled my kernel to 2.6.5. i was successful doing that, the only problem i had was, once i rebooted, everytime i tried to ping a host on my internal network, it came up with "network unreachable"
running netconfig didn't help either. i guess i might have not compiled the module for my ethernet card during makeconfig. and that's where my question comes in, i have a card by the name of Macronix 98175 PMAC rev 32, its running fine on 2.4.22 but doesn't work when i go into 2.6.5 i also checked to see what kind of cards makeconfig offered while going under network setup and the card wasn't listed there, so instead i selected the Linux Tulip driver. i'm really confused here, how do i go about getting the appropriate driver detected for the ethernet card. also, i have a really old sound card, SB 4.0, how do i get that going on the 2.6.5 ? any help would be greatly appreciated. thanks! |
Your card should use the tulip driver. If you compiled support for the tulip module, etc, you'll just want to have it load at boot time or modprobe afterwards.
http://www.linuxquestions.org/hcl/sh...hp?product=607 modprobe tulip as root to load it, etc. |
