Compile Slackware CLFS-style on iBook G4

I am trying to compile CLFS http://cross-lfs.org/view/svn/ppc/index.html with the Slackware source from the current tree on my iBook G4.

I followed the instructions in the link above, with the following modifications:
  1. As said, I use the Slackware-current source
  2. I did not install ppl
  3. I did not install ClooG-ppl
  4. I use slackwares glibc (not eglibc)
  5. At the end of chapter 6 I installed the pkgtools

To chroot i used the following command:

Code:
chroot "${CLFS}" /tools/bin/env -i \
    HOME=/root TERM="${TERM}" PS1='\u:\w\$ ' \
    PATH=/bin:/usr/bin:/sbin:/usr/sbin:/tools/bin:/tools/sbin \
    /tools/bin/bash --login +h
In chapter 8 I also made Symlinks for the pkgtools, gzip and xz-utils.

Now in chapter 10 i would like to install man-pages through the Slackware man-pages.SlackBuild script but makepkg fails with the error:

Code:
ERROR: xz compression utility not found in $PATH.
I can use the xz command without problems in the chroot environment. Has someone an idea why makepkg fails?

makepkg requires which, amongst other things, to work. The error your getting suggests which is not installed on the system you are running makepkg on.

Thanks for the hint! I should have realized that when i was looking at the makepkg script. Now it works like a charm!
