compile optimized kernel
I have 3 questions first, what version of gcc does slackware use to compile the kernel?
Second what version of gcc do you use to compile the kernel?
I have compiled the kernel many times but if I use gcc 3.xx the kernel is not stable, my mouse isn't smooth, I can't explain but my computer isn't smooth. But if I use gcc 2.95.3 as recommended it is verry stable. But then I can't optimize for my athlon-xp if I optimize for athlon alsa wont compile but it compiles if I use gcc 3.x and if I compile nvidia driver I have to extract the driver and compile the source manually so I think slackware uses gcc 3.2.3. But the slackware vmlinuz kernel is verry stable at my computer.
Third, how stable is kernel compiled with gcc 3.x and how stable is it when optimized for athlon and athlon-xp?
