Compatible SATA Raid controller?

I'm in search of an SATA Raid controller that will be supported by Slackware 9. All the ones I've researched so far only indicate other dists such as SuSe and RedHat (Blech!).
Sadly, I can't afford to just buy them all and try them....

since kernel 2.4.20 the silcon image 3112 controller is supported

I had some difficulties to get it running with the VIA chipset and Suse 9.0 but it is now stable, I run it with a RAID configuration and the install is easy when you have the trick to avoid the bugs.
