command halt reboots slackware

Hello Slackers!

I recently installed slackware64 14.0 on my machine and everything is good except for this strange behavior:

# halt
# shutdown -h now
# poweroff
# init 0

all of the above commands always reboots my computer.

What would you have to know in order to help me fix this?

I has a different problem, reboot/power off always stuck at the final stage and appears hung. I solved it by upgrade the kernel to 3.4.x series.

From the halt man page:

Quote:

If halt or reboot is called when the system is not in runlevel 0 or 6, in other words when it's running normally, shutdown will be invoked instead (with the -h or -r flag). For more info see the shutdown(8) manpage.
