Unhappy cmp and 2.6.18

I succesfuly installed slack 11 (full) and i was compiling the lastest kernel 2.6.18 when i ran into a problem.

compiling went wel untill the last stage when everything gets linked together and zipped where the build script complained "/bin/sh: cmp: command not found", the compare program wasn't found!!

and indeed 'cmp' wasn't installed !!

weird, does slack 11 come without cmp??

where can i download the cmp package, if there is one?

cmp is part of diffutils which can be found in the "ap" series: /slackware/ap/diffutils-2.8.1-i486-3.tgz
