Chinese support for slackware 9.1

Hi all ;)

i want to have chinese support for my slackware 9.1, not the whole system become chinese enironment. i tried to export LANG=zh_CN,LC_ALL=zh_CN,LC_CTYPE=zh_CN.
but it juz show some weird characters rather than the chinese characters. can someone tell me what to do?

besides, even i type halt, shutdown -h now or telinit 0, the power still on after showing Power down at the end. What's going on?

Check if you have installed right chinese font, like zysong.ttf in the RH, or simsun.ttf in the windows. You don't even need to change your locale if you just want view chinese. You can add en_US.utf-8 locale defination by command localedef -vci en_US -f UTF-8 en_US.UTF-8, then define your locale in your .bash_profile file, and can use SCIM for chinese input.

Two ways to solve the "problem":
1. modify /etc/rc.d/rc.modules and uncomment the line "/usr/sbin/apm" to enable apm module
2. or recompile your kernel with ACPI support.

Good Luck, BTW, if you have such questions, I don't think here is a right forum you should come to ask, since most of them don't know about chinese. Anyway, slackware should do more for international users.
