Changing "X resolution" to make everything smaller
I've got one laptop and one desktop machine connected to a network so that my home directory and user account is the same regardless of which machine I log into.
When logging into the desktop with a 1280x1024 resolution screen, I get an eye-pleasing resolution with not-too-large and not-too-small icons.
However, when logging into my laptop which only is 1024x768 on the same account (shared w/NFS) the icons, fonts, menus etc are all a tad too large.
I don't want to set the size smaller in KDE, as that will make it WAY too small on the desktop machine.
Thus my question is: Is there anywhere in /etc/X11/xorg.conf or similar I can specify that I want "everything" a bit smaller?
PS. I know it's the nature of things that it'll be different on a 1024x768 compared to 1280x1024 - my question is how to "compensate" without making account settings in KDE as it'll impact my use on the desktop as well.DS
