Challenge loading ALSA upon bootup

Got tired of loading the alsa modules by hand everytime I rebooted because I wanted sound..

So just like any good Slackware user, I added it to my /etc/rc.modules file, but upon bootup I still have to go thru the steps to get the moduesl loaded. Is there anyway to add all of those other steps to the rc.modules file?

thanks

Hey,

Try running alsaconf, this detect your sound card and will add entries to modules.conf in etc. This should be enough to get the sound drivers working.

Why run /usr/sbin/alsaconf from here?

A person would still have to step thru the alsa configurator as well, correct?

That's what I run from /etc/rc.d/rc.d/rc.modules, which then kicks off alsaconf and I still have to step thru it manually to setup my sound.

How do I set it up so it does it all by itself?
