cdrecord help

I am having a hard time understaing how to use cdrecord.
I have Slackware 10.0. Kernel 2.4.26. hdc=ide-scsi (CD-RW).

I know I need to do:
cdrecord -scanbus

Then I get some target, lun all 0.

What to do next. It is an old writer, so speed = 4x.

1) How to issue the command?
2) If I have a CD-RW, can I erase it using cdrecord? How?

Pls help...

First you have to do an iso image, say if you put the files to burn in /home/burn directory :

mkisofs -o mycd.iso /home/burn

Then test the cd burning with :
cdrecord -v -dummy speed=4 dev=0,0 mycd.iso

If all goes fine,
cdrecord -v speed=4 dev=0,0 mycd.iso

There are examples near the bottom of the man page for cdrecord

Use a graphical front end like K3b if you have KDE. It's quite easy to use.
