I don't know if it's very important but I forgot to say that this is my secind drive. The first one is TEAC CD-ROM 40x. I checked /proc/pci and my CD-RW isn't listed. The ide-scsi module is loaded and it's uncommented. I didn't quite understand that: cdrecord --scanbus thing so I didn't check this. Ohh, and like you asked here's the output of lsmod:
Module Size Used by Not tainted
radeon 95288 0
ide-scsi 7458 0
8139too 13792 1
mii 1008 0 [8139too]
emu10k1 55680 1
sound 52876 0 [emu10k1]
ac97_codec 9568 0 [emu10k1]
soundcore 3236 7 [emu10k1 sound]
Like I said, the ide-scsi is there. (Oh, by the way, can someone tell me how to make a screen dump(setterm -dump 1 doesn't work ))
Well then, you should go about installing it. Or getting a program that includes it. It should be on your Slack CD. Use pkgtool to install packages from your CD.
Then, as dai suggested, cdrecord -scanbus should give you a place to start.
OK, I've installed and did tehh cdrecord -scanbus command. It gives out an error:
cdrecord: No such file or directory. Cannot open '/dev/pg*'. Cannot open SCSI driver.
cdrecord: For possible targets try 'cdrecord -scanbus'. Make sure oyu are root.
