I seem to be getting an error whenever I try to burn something on my Slackware box. I used to be able to burn anything and everything a few months back. But since then I reinstalled Slack and also recompiled my kernel (possible problem is here). Can anyone help me configure my CD/DVD burner correctly? This is the error I get whenever I try to burn:

Up until recently I had no problems burning either - until I went to slackware 10.2. Suddenly I was getting errors when closing the session. Another thread here recommended growisofs, a command line tool from the dvd+rw-tools-5.21.4.10.8-i486-1 package, so I tried it and it worked fine.
Sorry that doesn't clarify the problem you're having, but if growisofs works for you it may point to a problem with cdrecord-ProDVD.
I haven't tried burning a DVD yet (I used to be able to burn DVDs too). I've only tried an audio CD. But K3B tells me that no medium can be found and the core (cdrtools) doesn't see the CD-Rs eithers. I think this has to do with the kernel... but I'm not sure. cdrtools has been known to have issues with 2.6 kernels... but it worked before for me.

Reason: change
If you're using your drives via SCSI emulation you'll need to turn on SCSI support, SCSI CD support and SCSI generic support as well as ISO9660 under file systems. If you're not using SCSI, you only need the IDE and ATAPI support (as well as ISO9660). Have you tried using the -immed flag with cdrecord, it may help?
I'm not using SCSI support with the 2.6 kernel and to get cdrecord to see my devices I use `cdrecord -scanbus dev=ATA`:

I just realized something horrible. My CD/DVD writer seems to recognize my DVD RW disks perfectly. It only has a problem with my Memorex 52x CD-Rs. Is there a way to make the burner burn on these CD-Rs? I haven't tried my CD-RWs yet, but I will just to check... so hold on
There doesn't seem to be anything in the man page for cdrecord about the differences between CD & DVD for settings. Your output above is using the correct driver (Using generic SCSI-3/mmc CD-R/CD-RW driver (mmc_cdr)) so I'll try it on mine with -v -V and see if I get any useful info out of it.
