Can't reset maria DB password

Hello,

I tried setting up MariaDB/Mysql in order to try my hand at hosting a web page. During the process, I screwed up, and it would not take my password. I have tried resetting it, but setting the --skip-grant-table doesn't do anything, as mysql still does not let me log in as root. I've also tried reinstalling MariaDB through slackpkg, in case it would reset some files, but that didn't help. If anyone knows how to reset the password through a config file or something, that would be much appreciated!:D

Never mind, I figured out what I was doing wrong. I was skipping the networking, and since I access it through the local host, it probably shut me out because of that. Sorry for the post!
