lilo problem

Hi i was running Mandrake 9.1 + WinXp and it installed lilo in my mbr. I decided I should try Slackware over Mandrake and the install went good but when it asked me where to install lilo, i choosed on MBR i was think it could rewrite the old Mandrake lilo but it didnt it said error "Lilo #1" something like that and now the mandrake lilo loading and i cant lunch Slackware, how can i delete it?

I checked if i have lilo.conf in my /etc but i did not find the config i tried to run "lilo" and it said it cant find the config.

*sorry for my bad english*

Thanks

sounds like for one reason or another, your lilo.conf got deleted. If you had it backed up, just restore it, if not, just take a look at someone elses lilo.conf and reconstruct yours to boot your system. I'd post mine but im in class at the moment. I'll check this thread when i get home and if no one has done so, i'll post mine as an example. We'll get you through this.

run the command liloconfig; it will help you construct a new lilo.conf

first, in the menu, start a new header, add a windows partition, then add your linux partition; install into the mbr of /dev/hda and you should be well

if something doen't work, you may need to edit your lilo.conf file manually

this is a bit silly to ask, but, are you running as root? you need to be logged in as root to write the lilo.conf file

do touch /etc/lilo.conf and then run liloconfig and try again
