Introduction to Linux - A Hands on Guide
This guide was created as an overview of the Linux Operating System, geared toward new users as an exploration tour and getting started guide, with exercises at the end of each chapter.
For more advanced trainees it can be a desktop reference, and a collection of the base knowledge needed to proceed with system and network administration. This book contains many real life examples derived from the author's experience as a Linux system and network administrator, trainer and consultant. They hope these examples will help you to get a better understanding of the Linux system and that you feel encouraged to try out things on your own.

Hi i was running Mandrake 9.1 + WinXp and it installed lilo in my mbr. I decided I should try Slackware over Mandrake and the install went good but when it asked me where to install lilo, i choosed on MBR i was think it could rewrite the old Mandrake lilo but it didnt it said error "Lilo #1" something like that and now the mandrake lilo loading and i cant lunch Slackware, how can i delete it?
I checked if i have lilo.conf in my /etc but i did not find the config i tried to run "lilo" and it said it cant find the config.
sounds like for one reason or another, your lilo.conf got deleted. If you had it backed up, just restore it, if not, just take a look at someone elses lilo.conf and reconstruct yours to boot your system. I'd post mine but im in class at the moment. I'll check this thread when i get home and if no one has done so, i'll post mine as an example. We'll get you through this.
