can't get my 3Com 3c940 network card to work

hi

I have a Asus P4P800 mainboard with a 3com gigabit onboard card.
I've searched around the forum and googled, but still can't find a solution.
I've compiled the 2.6.8.1 kernel with support for 3com gigabit cards

But lspci gives that

02:05.0 Ethernet controller: 3Com Corporation 3c940 1000Base? (rev 12)

After that I tried downloading the drivers from the asus website, but they won't compile.
Does anyone have a solution to that?

sorry, my mistake....
I just used the wrong module.

hmmm, I almost got it fixed....
now whenever I connect via adsl-start I get

eth0: -- ERROR --
Class: Hardware failure
Nr: 0x264
Msg: unexpected IRQ Status error
eth0: Adapter failed.

all the time on the terminals.....
But the card I connect through is eth1
Anyone had that?
