can't eject a cd

when I mout a cd and open this cd then, after, I umount the same ce but a can no eject the cd, not if a click on cd bottom (don't open).
Why?
How can i dolve this problem?

Try to eject it with command-line then see if it outputs error

eject /dev/<your cdrom device>

It's probably a permissions problem, so what you'll need to do is run chmod +rwx /dev/cdrom or wherever your CD drive is located.

Or you are still in the cdrom directory, even after umounting.

I can eject with the command:
eject /dev/sr0
But the problem not begin when I install slack. It begins today. In the last week the cdrom works fine.

You try to eject the cd from kde right click on the cd icon ?

Yes I do.
But the curious it's about 10 min after I umount the cd, I can remove the cd from the drive. Maybe It's any process that not stop imediatly.

I occasionally get this problem, usually caused by an open audio process, to fix it I use the following:

Try the following code as root

Code:

lsof /dev/sr0

It will tell you if there are any open files associated with your cdrom, if there are you can kill them with

Code:

kill PID

Where PID is the number of the process.

I did:

lsof /dev/sr0

and the output was:

COMMAND PID USER FD TYPE DEVICE SIZE NODE NAME
kdeinit 2990 helder 12r BLK 11,0 354593 /dev/sr0

So I did:
kill 2990

and the I can open the cd drive. It seams that the umount cd don't unmount immediately.

Supermount allows WINDOWS like CD behavior
1. no mounting/unmounting required
2. you can eject your cd by pressing the eject button on your driver ANYTIME
3. even when you are using the drive!!!

or IF you can't compile supermount (which is very unlikely)

here is the DEADLY command to eject your CDROM at any cost!!!

cdrecord -eject
