Cannot mount USB drive.

Hi all,
For some reason, I cannot mount USB drives on my new Slackware installation. I am new to Slack, so please bear with me.

The error message in XFCE is as follows:
Code:

Rejected send message,
1 matched rules; type="method_call",
sender=":1.68" (uid=1000 pid=3353
comm="exo-mount)
interface="org.freedesktop.Hal.Device.Volume"
member="Mount" error name="(unset)"
requested_reply=0
destination="org.freedesktop.Hal"
(uid=0 pid=1907 comm="/usr/sbin/hald)).

If any light could be shed it would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
Jack Hunt
