canadian customs charge on slackware store items?

Hmmm...

I just got a 12 dollar charge on my package from the slackware store.

Quote:
Your Package Has Been Examined by Revenue Canada

The reason was that the declaration on the outside of the parcel was missing or incomplete for customs purposes.

To expedite future shipments, please advise your exporter to provide a declaration that includes the value and a complete description of the contents.

Thank You

Why not provide feedback to the Slackware store, where it will do some good? Email: sales@store.slackware.com.

I find that buying things over the Internet from the USA is usually okay, but , yeah sometimes things get held up. When I bought my Slackware baseball cap it arrived just fine with no delays or mark-up. Another time I bought some Linux CDs from another vender and they were held in limbo for 3+ weeks.
The Canadian customs can be a problem on occasion.

There was no hold up. What happened was there was no declaration on the box.

There was an international shipping sticker on the box but it looks like it was left blank. If they had filled it out customs would not have inspected my package and I would not have been overcharged.

Ah well, what's 12 bucks anyway?

Well, I think this is an important point. You should contact the Slackware store and tell them to mark packages. Otherwise, it's bad for both you and them. You lose money, they lose business ....
