can not install printer

Hi, i am a newbie and can not install my printer. I am using Slackware 9.0 and i have an HP deskjet 930C.
I found the right driver on the printer-menager program, but when i try to print something it say text successfully sent to the printer, but no answere.
A friend of mine said to try to disinstall lpr packages and install cups, but i have this knowledge with Slack.
Any suggests?

From what I have read & heard LPR is a better setup than using CUPS but I guess that could change with different hardware and setup. Have you checked out 'www.linuxprinting.org' for drivers & support information?

I had the same problem with my printer. It would send information to the Queue but it would never output thru the printer. I did find (odd?) that if I turned the printer off & back on it would recognize and somehow correct itself.

Yes probably this could be with Red Hat, but i think Slackware it is more demanding, specially for a linux newbie like me.
By the way i will try with linuxprinting.org.
