Can I Run "slackpkg" For A Mounted Partition?

I have Slackware 14.2 (64-bit) mounted on /dev/sda1 and the 32-bit one on /dev/sda2.

When I am in /dev/sda1 I would like to run "slackpkg" for /dev/sda2. So when I am in /dev/sda1 I mount /dev/sda2 to /mnt and launch the command. But the utility runs for /dev/sda1.

Is it not possible to run "slackpkg" the way I want to do it?

I guess this is what you want to do :

Code:
ROOT=/mount/point/for/sda2 slackpkg ...
--
SeB

I'll run the command this evening and see what happens!
Thanks for your help.

tb75252, if you are dual-booting between 14.2/64bit and 14.2/32bit on the same hard drive I would not do what phenixia2003 suggested.

You would be better off to chroot to the "/mnt" where you have mounted the other (non-running) OS, and try the update etc. from the chroot.

Do you mean installed versus mounted?
If so, try this:
Code:
mount /dev/sda2 /mnt
chroot /mnt
then you will be root in the other OS (the 32bit one) where you can then try and run the slackpkg update.
To leave the chroot, simply
Code:
exit
