Hello,

I like to use slackware without any wm managers so I can install the one i like.
But i need X.

Is this possible and how ?

I suppose you can do that with a selective install, yes.

If i'm trying to be selective, I install everything from X which will included a very basic window manager, then I deselect all the window managers under xap and choose the one I want.

EDIT, if you already have slackware installed and you need the space then you can remove the ones you don't need... Here is an attempt and listing them all

Code:

su -c 'removepkg blackbox fluxbox fvwm twm windowmaker xfce'

of course you could remove kde... but that may impact some of the programs you run that rely on some kde libraries.

of course you can. if you have the installed all you can deactivate the wm's by pkgtool. if you plan to use startx to launch your choice wm, just have a .xinitrc in your home directory. if you intend to go graphical right away (init 4) you'll need to work with the xinitrc files and maybe rc.4 script.
